Akito watches Nill out of the corner of his eye, bemused. He’s not unused to her stumbling around and getting her skirts caught on the odd thing, but she seems especially distracted today. He’s not any better though, and figures that the distraction must be due to the fact that Christmas is the following day. Everyone seems preoccupied with their thoughts. He and Agito had managed to get a motorcycle for Akira - the only gift they could think to give him, thanks to the advice of another castle resident - and Akito had spent a couple hours carefully painting Behemoth’s symbol onto the front grill. His eye is tired from the effort, and he finds himself silently hoping that Akira likes the gift.

“You could try pants, you know,” he says, watching Nill detangled herself from something again, and then proceeding to catch her boot on something. She rights herself and avoids a collision with the ground before Akito can make a motion to help her. “They don’t catch on things.”

She looked down at herself absently when he mentioned pants. She didn't know if they'd be very comfortable. She'd been given dresses or something like them for as long as she could remember. She supposed it might feel a little like wearing very long, loose socks? Haine never got caught on anything, so maybe it'd be a good idea.

She could always try it, right? She didn't think she'd get in trouble for it. Though now that Haine'd mentioned the few people she couldn't remember, she'd realized she didn't really know who she'd gotten her clothes from in the first place, when she was in the church. Who was this Bishop? Why'd he have so many girl's clothes to give her ( ... )

He blinks at her curiously, then catches on to what she’s doing and pulls the hem of his coat up a bit so she can look at them better if she’d like. “They’re really comfortable, and warm!” he says, “They’re more practical than skirts in the wintertime. All of the girls where I'm from wear pants more than skirts.”

She nodded a little quicker, thinking she wouldn't mind a pair of pants like that. She looked down at her own skirt again, thinking about how it was rather mixed whether the girls she'd seen were wearing skirts or pants. It'd never seemed too important to her before, in the past few weeks she'd started to wonder if perhaps she was missing something... Not a lot of people walked around in clothes like hers. Akito was an exception.

He was an exception in a lot of ways. Very different from other people. Besides not minding girls clothes, he was also kind of quiet... And he was very small, but despite this, very brave. She knew what he did for her at work, and hoped that he knew that even though she'd cut the 'thank you's down into simple nods, she was still very appreciative.

She signed out "WHERE", which could have meant any number of things. She decided to let Akito decide what it meant or if he wanted to ask.

“Where are we going, or where can you get some too?”

Even though he told Rinali before that verbal communication is not as informative as body language when it comes to interpreting things, he stills finds it difficult to understand exactly what Nill means sometimes. There are too many ways to interpret body language for it to be entirely accurate in cases like this, he thinks. Not that he particularly minds that she can’t talk, and the effort he has to put into their conversations because of it, although it would be nice if she could. He’s sure that she would love that, if the last time she was around was any indication. She had a nice voice. If any one person were to be deserving of the ability to speak, she would definitely be it.

“Or did you mean something else?”

She liked that Akito picked up on these sorts of things quickly. She wondered if he was as good at understanding other people as he understood her? Allen was also good at it, but not quite as good at picking up how she felt about things. Haine was the best at it, but he didn't know sign language like Akito did.

But they were all getting better at it. She tried her part, too, to get better at "talking" to them. She knew pretty well by now how to respond to a question like that, so she held up two fingers for him to mean she was talking about the second one (though she wouldn't have minded knowing the answer to the first as well).

She slowed down a little to step gingerly through a mostly-frozen puddle. Her shoes would be fine, she just didn't want to splash Akito and get him wet.
