Iroh patted him on the back, letting the hug last for a moment or two before pulling away. He knew he smelled - he didn't need to subject Zuko to that as well as everything else that was going on right now. He was incredibly glad to see him, though - to see that he had changed for the better, that he had picked the right path ... It was almost bringing tears to his eyes.

Or maybe that was the smell getting to him, too.

Anyways, he smiled a little at Zuko before saying what he needed to get out, as well. Zuko had asked what Iroh could have owed him. It was simple, really.

"I owe you an apology, Zuko, because when you needed me most I turned my back on you." he explained quietly. "When you asked for advice, I was too angry with you to help you, to guide you to where you needed to be. Perhaps if I had not selfishly ignored your request for help, you would have gone down the right path much faster than you did. I am truly sorry for that."
