Who: Cloud Strife, Kadaj What: A friendly little fair fight! 8D Except Kadaj cheats, the little asshole. When: After this. Where: On the roof. Rating: idk, pg-13?
When it came down to it, Cloud hated leaving his sword behind. It felt weird to walk around without the weight on his back; there was an odd sense of insecurity without it, because he knew that there was always the possible chance of something happening. Plus, if he was weaponless just what in the world could he do? But he really couldn't dwell on it. Because he had, after all, agreed to no weapons in this fight
( ... )
Kadaj lifted both his hands, wiggling his fingers to display the fact that they were completely empty. "See?" he said with a smirk, tone practically teasing - like the one he'd used to introduce his Big Brother to all those orphans. "You can trust me." He shifted so his shoulder was pointing towards Cloud, making it obvious that the Souba wasn't strapped to his back before tapping his displayed arm with one of his hands. "I didn't even bring any Materia."
While it wasn't his style to fight without swords (okay, it wasn't his style to fight at all when he could send Yazoo and Loz to do the dirty work for him), Kadaj was very good with adapting. He'd fought while holding onto Mother, on racing motorbikes, after all. He could manage without weapons, for the moment, if there was only one person he had to keep an eye on. Even if that one person was the one who'd killed him.
To that end, he fisted his hands and held them up in one of Loz's stances. "Are you just going to stand there all day?"
Maybe he could trust him, despite the little naggy voice in the back of his head telling him how utterly stupid it was to even think of believing him. But there were no weapons on him, no materia present. Maybe Kadaj was abiding by his own rules.
For another minute Cloud just watched Kadaj, watched the stance he took and had to wonder just why he agreed to the no weapon rule.
He couldn't remember the last night he went hand to hand like this. Awhile, he was sure. Hopefully he wasn't too rusty for fighting like this. Watching Tifa train herself day after day might not have been enough, nor would it even match up to practicing hand-to-hand, but at least it was something.
"Not really." It was the only thing he said before he was closing the distance between him and Kadaj. Cloud would attempt the first strike and his gut feeling was telling him it would be blocked or dodged. That would come of as no surprise.
Kadaj watched Cloud advance, before sliding one foot over to the left and using it to lean out of the way of the man's strike. He reached out to grab Cloud's arm, preparing to ram his right fist into his gut.
He figured it couldn't hurt to trade a few blows first - lure his Big Brother in to a false sense of security, as it were, before getting behind him and shooting him in the back while he was least expecting it. Blocking the bullets would be impossible if he wasn't carrying that huge sword, and dodging was unlikely if he didn't see it coming.
Kadaj knew he couldn't win in terms of strength or skill (that much had already been proven) and ganging up on Cloud was impossible now that Loz had disappeared, so this had to work. Mother wouldn't let him get killed again; she wouldn't waste her time giving him a second chance by bringing him here. He was sure of it.
