Who: Axel [arsoning] and Kairi [loving_light]. What: Axel goes to get her, because he worries. >| When: This morning. Where: The cliff, then back to the castle. Rating: G.
Kairi was beginning to wonder just how badly Axel was hurt. She no longer cared that she was hungry, she was more worried about how he moved-- just... not with his usual laid-back quality. Something was off... and leave it to Kairi to figure it out. She held up a hand to stop him from talking as soon as he started, looking him over once. "... Stop being so concerned with me... I'm not the injured one, Axel..." She looked up at him, and for once he could actually see how the worry reflected in her eyes. Had those tones of regret and concern left her for the past couple of days...?
She stepped back a bit, and crossed her arms. "... I still don't think you should have come out there, Axel..."
Not that she really had any right to say that after giving him permission...
For a moment, there was hesitation. But it was just that; a moment. Came in fast, stayed for a second, then disappeared the next. He wasn't going to let it phase him in the least, he knew she was worried but he was doing a hell of a lot better than he had been the day before. Granted, if he continued moving around too much, he was fairly sure he'd start to bleed again, which would lead to more worrying on Kairi's part. He just had to make sure he took it easy and he'd be totally fine, right
( ... )
Kairi wasn't buying it. No matter how many times he told her he was fine, no matter how many times he just smiled and shrugged it off... She wasn't gonna buy it. She made this clear by staring straight at him, that concern just welling up more with each passing moment. She could tell he was lying-- every little thing he did clicked in her head as a sign. That split-second of hesitation, that falter in his smile, the sudden change from teasing to indifferent.
They were all neon signs pointing to his words being lies.
"If you didn't notice, I had four very healthy people out there at the cliffs with me. I know for a fact Setsuna and Athrun are capable of helping me back here. I'm sure Cagalli and Lacus are, too." She pointed out, knowing that Axel knew this already.
"Now would you stop lying to me? I don't think you're used to it anymore, but someone being worried about you is a sign that they care about you. I know it's not 'just a scratch', so stop trying to tell me otherwise. I don't like that."
"Che." He crossed his arms, nodding towards the window that looked out over some part of the castle grounds. "Four people I don't trust with you." It wasn't so much he didn't trust them to keep her safe, but he didn't trust them to get her back in a timely matter before she passed out from lack of nutrition.
He also seemed to get better and better about being possessive over his friends.
Axel moved, backing himself up against the wall and leaning against it, crossing his arms and looking as casual and laid back as ever. Despite the fact, of course, that his stomach was throbbing like no other and he wouldn't mind laying back down in his bed and irritating the hell out of Tyki. But he also had better things to do, like make sure Kairi actually took care of herself for once. "It is just a scratch, he doesn't have anything on me. I was too fast for him; seems worse than it really is. I'm a hundred percent fine, without a doubt and I'm telling you that, because it's true."
