Sokka stopped halfway up the stairs, breathing hard. Why, why did this building have to have so many floors? He was beginning to get exhausted just looking around. But he wasn't about to give up, not if he was actually going to see Yue again
( ... )
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Yue turned around, bright blue eyes lighting up and heart pounding faster than ever before. "...Sokka!"
He looked a bit different, but that was probably because his hair had grown since the last time she'd seen him. It was fine, though; he still looked as handsome as ever, and what was even better, he was Sokka. He was here, and she was here, but she wished this didn't seem as surreal as it did.
She stepped closer to him, hands trembling ever so slightly. Was this really real?
All of her feelings began to overwhelm her, and without warning, she hugged him tightly. She began to cry softly, tears slipping out one by one as she shook gently.
Sokka's mouth dropped open slightly, unsure of what to do for a moment. Yue was here, she was real, and she was hugging him. Did I mention she was REAL?! After a few seconds of speechlessness, a small smile crept onto his face and he wrapped his arms around her in response.
"Hey, it's okay," he said quietly. "I mean, uh ... don't cry, okay?" Okay, not the best choice of comforting words, but hopefully it would work, right? But he just stood there, holding her, afraid that if he let go she might just disappear into the sky yet again.
Yue shuddered a little bit more, before taking one last deep breath in an effort to still herself. She felt horrible for dumping all of her feelings onto him like this, but it'd been terribly relieving.
"I'm sorry," she murmured softly, brushing the last of her tears away with her glove and looking up at him with sincere eyes, "It's just... really hard to believe that I'm here. I don't know if I'm more upset or happy... upset that my people may still be in danger, or..."
Her voice trailed off, and she was silent for a few minutes. "Or just really happy to see that you're safe and well," she confessed.
