However much he was mentally trying to drag his feet, he arrived within a couple minutes to agreeing with an immediate interview. He was glad he didn't live on the top floor... but didn't this place know about elevators?

Squall strode over to stand in front of Leon, his arms immediately crossed over his chest, face a recognisable mask of indifference. This was bound to be weird and uncomfortable to some degree, but he was going to look at it like any of the SeeD missions he'd been on. Though those hadn't been many, had they, before--

Interview. Nothing more, nothing less. Squall was finally able to get a good look at Leon and now he didn't want it. All curiosity was gone. The scar was the most disconcerting. How the hell had Leon gotten that? Then again, it wasn't until recently that Squall had been told how he'd gotten his.

"Hey," he grudgingly greeted.

Leon let his eyebrows rise briefly before straightening from the wall, uncrossing both his legs and arms. He was, somewhat, glad for his lack of hearing at that point--if there was similarity in their voices, he might of driven himself crazy. Nevertheless, he nodded his own greeting--recognition--before gesturing towards the entrance of the Library.

"Follow me," Leon grunted before entering the Library, leading the way to the very back where the rooms Selphie and himself had comandeered for CPVC use lay. He opened one of the doors, holding it open for the other.

"Have a seat."

Without thinking twice, Squall followed the older man into the library. He absentmindedly shifted the sheath of his gunblade as he took a seat; he'd thought about not bringing it, but these days he never left his room without being armed. It'd be stupid otherwise, what with all the crazy, moronic, or otherwise careless/helpless people running about.

Squall sat up straight, though his arms remained crossed over his chest, watching Leon. ...I'm never letting my hair grow out, he irrationally and suddenly decided. Besides, it reminds me of Laguna. He suppressed a frown and shoved that train of thought off its track. Focus on the interview. It couldn't be any worse than those monotonous written SeeD exams.

Closing the door behind him, Leon took a seat at the desk in the sparsely furnished room. He dug out his journal from inside his coat, laying it open to a blank page on the desk. It would record what they said in the interview--prefiltered to himself only--in case Leon misread a lip. Squall Leonhart he wrote at the top of the page, then looked to the boy sitting across from him.

He glanced briefly at the kid's weapon--of course--before speaking.

"So, Squall, tell me a little about yourself."

The first question and it was something Squall never wanted to do. But he wanted the job and they'd warned about personal questions. Besides, how much could he really say? According to the others he 'knew' here, there was a lot he had missing about himself.

"...Do you want to know something in particular?" Squall asked, wanting only to know and not trying to buy time. "I'm seventeen and..." He couldn't say he was SeeD any longer, not when all he has was memories of regulations. "...a former SeeD." He wondered if Selphie had mentioned it to Leon. "A mercenary force." He decided to wait until he was asked for specifics before he went any further.

This was a paradise full of kids, for sure. At least half of the members had to be under twenty. He tapped his pen against the desk briefly, frowning. Squall'd forgotten something, right? Leon remembered Selphie telling him earlier on.

"I know you're missing a few cards in your deck," he stated, wincing inwardly at his choice of words. "But anything that has to do with experience in leadership positions, healing... If you can remember. Do you remember any of your relationships with others? We need to know how well you work with people."

Squall was quiet for a moment, carefully thinking about his answer. Finally he admitted, "I was made SeeD Commander during wartime and put in charge of Balamb Garden, where potential SeeDs are trained." Even though vocal inflection couldn't be detected, his body mirrored the impassiveness of it. It was as if he were giving a report, not thinking about the Sorceress War--about the gaping holes in his memory.

"Where I'm from there are Sorceresses--women with natural talent for magic. At the time, we believed we were up against a Sorceress named Edea." He decided to keep the fact Edea was really his Matron private until it seemed absolutely necessary to reveal it. "But in truth we were up against a sorceress in the future named Ultimecia. She wanted to cause something called Time Compression and it's pretty much what it sounds like." He frowned briefly. It'd been extremely confusing, at first, and he still wasn't sure how it all worked out ( ... )

Leon nodded at the information, though having to glance at the journal to make sure he understood correctly compromised his ability to keep eye contact with the kid. He wasn't entirely sure what the Guardian Forces were--but at this point, it seemed irrelevant if Squall didn't have them now. He mentally noted that it was something he would ask Selphie about, later on.

"Do you find yourself taking actions out of revenge?" he then asked, folding his arms over his chest and leaning back into the chair.

He considered that. Somewhere in his missing memories... was there a time where he'd done something out of revenge?

Squall resisted touching the beginning of his scar. If that wouldn't be bad enough, it would have been a self-conscious movement. It was the only thing he could ever think of as being even remotely related. But supposedly that had been during a training session and gunblades weren't water guns. If you screwed up, you got hurt--damned bad. That was common sense. But had there been anger behind it...?

He figured there probably had been. He just couldn't see himself returning it in revenge, per se.

"No," he answered, now almost disgusted by the notion.

Another nod--inwardly in approval, but outwardly controlled and just... a nod. While the memory loss kept Leon from knowing a lot about Squall, he wasn't overly worried. The kid seemed smart and collected, and would be a strong addition to the team. At least to balance dearest Selphie out.

"So," he started, rubbing his eyebrow briefly. "Why do you want to join the committee?"
