Lente's Point Expedition - Day 1

Jun 14, 2011 14:13

[The sound of a pair of TARDII warping in disturbs the bucolic peace of this place. The doors come open and the travelers, some perhaps a little worse for the wear after that abrupt trip, walk out into the morning sunshine.

It's time to begin the trek southward.]

[Violet was in the middle of describing the horse like creatures when she saw Percy trying to talk to them. Who talks to horses? Then again who talks to books?]

Not getting anything from them? [She's preparing to write this all down.]

Nope. I think they're wild or something. They seem really skittish around humans. [that and no powers, sigh]

I would guess as much. They seem feral. [She looks back at them with a small smile.]

Isn't "feral" just referring to cats? [derp]

No. It simply means living in the wild, or savage. There have even been cases of feral children, though my brother could tell you more about the specifics.

...Really? Like in that book King of the Bugs? [aka Paradisa version of Lord of the Flies]

Sort of. That's an allegory for the destruction of civilization if man is left to his own devices. [Much like her canon. :|] Feral children were raised in the wild. Kind of like Romulus and Remus if you know of the Latin myth.

[blink] Erm... Sorry, I'm only really familiar with Greek mythology. Rumuls and Remus were those... wolf kids, right?

They were raised by a shewolf, I believe. Romulus was the founder of Rome, hence it bares his name.

There was also a tale about a boy which the Tarzan story was based on, but I don't remember all the details. My brother would know more about it. I think he read a book on it when he was six.

Heh. I'm not a big fan of reading, and... I don't even know if my brother can read.

I have a sister whose too young to read. I read, but not as avidly as my brother. And it's usually manuals.

Cool. I just have the one brother. Though I've got about a million cousins.

Big family? I don't have any cousins.
