[Someone's wandering the perimeter a little, seeing how things are arrayed. She'd rather be at the ruins, really... but she'll stick with the larger group in the interest of safety this time.

When she spots Lana she waffles a little. Maybe the other woman doesn't want to be bothered. Still, it can't hurt to check, right?]

You feeling okay?

[ While she doesn't personally know Rin well, she's seen her around and read her entries on the journal enough by now that she feels less inclined to force a fake smile around her.

She does try to lessen the gravity of her mood, though, offering a casual shrug and a sigh. ]

Just can't sleep. I figured I might as well make myself useful.

[After a moment, Rin does give her a small smile.]

Well... hm, I get it. But we should all try to get some rest tonight.

Easier said than done.

[ Remembering that Rin is an expedition leader, she figures she might as well warn her. Shifting, she looks over at her more properly. ]

There's a woman who came along that you should keep an eye on. Her name's Katherine, she's about my height with wavy brown hair? She's a vampire, and even without special powers out here, she might still be dangerous.

I know.

[... Rin looks serious as the warning is given, though.]

What kind of capabilities does she have when she's powered?

[ This is where she gets weary. She doesn't want to hand over information that would immediately compromise Damon and Stefan, but... She can still be helpful. ]

Standard vampire powers. Super speed, strength, but they can also compel people to do whatever they want.

[ Another moment of hesitation, before she turns and reaches into her backpack to pull out a small vial with a murky liquid. She holds it out. Lana remembers what Damon said about Katherine's resistance, but it still had to be unpleasant, right? ]

Try to put a few drops of this in people's food or drinks. If someone's making soup for everyone, that's best. Or coffee, it does a good job of shielding the flavor. It should keep her from trying to feed on anyone. Even without her powers, she probably still craves blood.

[After hesitating, Rin takes the vial. She'll bring this up to Jr. She does look uncomfortable, not liking the idea of dosing people with something that... she doesn't know what it is.]

She'd put other people in danger? What is this stuff?

It's...an herb. Totally harmless to humans, but some vampires don't like it.

She claims she won't, and that she wants to prove herself, and maybe she's right. But I didn't want to take any chances knowing what I do. She's caused a lot of trouble for people back home.

She's from your world?

[luthored]

That I'm not actually sure about, but she is from Earth. And a few people here know of her.

All right...

[A pause.]

I have to let Jr. know about this, and I'm going to try it myself, but the safety of people here is important, so I'll do my best to make sure that happens. [Whether it comes down to talking to this vampire or dosing everyone with the stuff.]

[ She nods, glancing away again. It's a bit of a relief now that she's let the leaders know. Of course, knowing of Katherine's resistance still makes her wary. ]

Hopefully it won't even be a problem.

I'll be keeping an eye on her, too, so you shouldn't need to worry too much. I just...needed a breather out here.

Fair enough. [She's had bad vampire encounters of her own.]

[ A quick shake of her head. ]

The day I let a vampire hurt me, I'm packing it in.

She seems interested in me, though, because I know the people who she's wronged. If nothing else hopefully that will keep her off of everyone else's backs.

[ She offers wry smile. ]
