Thank you, Emil. I hardly even knew it was a holiday, so I apologize for not getting you a present. I've placed your card on my dresser.

I gather there may be fireworks, and some people give money. Sheena did give me money when I visited Mizuho around our last New Year; I'm not surprised to hear that other cultures do the same. And some people make resolutions? Resolutions to do what, I'm not certain.

Oh! It's alright. Just knowing you would have gotten me a present makes me happy.

Fireworks and money...I see.
Resolutions? Maybe I should make a few myself... [makes a small note of it]

[...After a momentary silence]

The holiday itself is an act of bidding farewell to the old and hearkening in the new. An act of page turning in the page by page history of humanity, so to speak. Filled with people making empty promises to themselves that they will fail miserably to keep. In a way, it can exemplify both the best and the worst of a people.

[thinks for a moment before responding] I'll try my best not to be one of those who hold empty promises.

Indeed you shall. Holding to your word is an important trait, a sign of strength. If you opt to make a resolution, you best hold to it sincerely.

Yes, of course. I would feel terrible if I couldn't uphold my word.
