If someone told me a few weeks ago I would be back in school again, I would have been skeptical. I'm glad I know a little French otherwise I doubt I would have had any idea what the teachers were saying. As for now, I can't say I'm used to having so much free time but it certainly does feel... less stressful not having to worry about so many things

If I was, I wouldn't be living in a one bedroom apartment with five people.

What?! You too? Oh, great. [Sighs, sinking into her chair a little. Well, there goes the plan to bum lunch off Tim. If he's just as broke as she is...]

Well. Not too long after I first got here, we ended up in Los Angeles. Paradisa sometimes turns into a new place. It goes back eventually. During the summer we were on pirate ships. That was kinda cool.

[Oh he sees how it is. WELL ACTUALLY he was going to offer to buy her lunch until he remembered, oh yeah, you can't really access the Wayne fortune in a different dimension.]

At least it's not outside in the street or on a rooftop?

[Raises an eyebrow at 'pirate ships', then decides to just take her word for it.]

[He chooses his next words carefully.] Does... this place ever... interfere with your memories...?

[Sounds like serious talk. She straightens up.]

It's pretty common. What's up?

[He pauses for a moment, looking down at the table.] ... You know me. And I've known you for awhile. I remember... having a stepmother... I remember my father... but I don't know if I ever had a mother. I can't remember anything about ever having one. It's just all blank. But I must have had one at some point. So I... was wondering if you knew anything about that, if it's something that this place has done or if I just never had one that I knew.

[... way to go, Paradisa. It could have been worse--she thinks losing memories of his father would have been especially cruel--but this still isn't nice.]

You did. You knew her. She--died, before you and I met, back when you first became Robin.

I wouldn't have the heart to take Jack away from Tim ;____; He means -way- too much to him

[Tim takes in a deep breath, hands curling tightly around the edge of the table. He doesn't like having his mind messed with at all. Having something important taken from him... because she must have been important, right? She was his mother.]

[Back when he first became Robin. So he'd had a mother until he was 13. 13 years of her he's lost.]

What was her name...? [He can't even remember her name, what kind of son doesn't remember his own mother's name? Hello, guilt.] Do you know what she looked like...?

[Steph can make an educated guess at what's going on in that head of his. Tim hasn't had the best of luck with parental figures. Knowing you can be so easily messed with by a magical castle isn't a good feeling.]

Janet. I don't think I ever saw a picture of her, no. We didn't really bring her up in conversations. [Dead parents are a downer.

She hesitates, then reaches over to touch one of his hands. If she weren't at the opposite side of the table she'd give him a hug, but she doesn't want to make a scene and draw unwanted attention.]

I'm sorry, Tim. This place can be a real pain in the ass.

Janet. Janet Drake? Jack and Janet Drake. Right? They were... together?

[He doesn't move when she touches his hand but he doesn't push it away or pull it back either.] It's... I can deal with it.

Right. Rings and everything.

[She looks over to see a waiter about ready to head their way. Food probably wasn't the best thing right now, despite having full knowledge Tim could toss on a Totally Okay mask well enough to mumble some French.

She gets up, pulling at his arm.]

Let's take a walk.

[That's... good. His parents were together. That meant they must have loved each other, right? And ... she'd loved him too. She had to, if she'd been around in his life... At least that's what he's going to tell himself for now. He knew his dad had loved him before he died. So surely his mom...]

Huh? [He blinks up at Stephanie when she gets to her feet, momentarily thrown off but standing up nonetheless.] We just got here...

But I want to take a walk. I'm broke, anyway, so it's probably better to find some place cheaper unless we want to end up washing dishes. [NO ROOM TO PROTEST, she's already leading him down the street.]

[He raises an eyebrow a little but goes along with it, his tone a little teasing.] Should I make a comment about you just wanting to be my friend because of the family fortune now?

You only just figured that out? [Teasing, of course.]
