[Perched on a leafless tree out in front of the castle is a merlin. It seems very calm, even calculating as it watches what's going on around it. It may even be staring at certain things. Eerie, isn't it. What do you do?]
[Toothless is walking out of the castle when he spots the falcon. Immediately, he perks up and stops, staring at the bird. The forests around are eerily quiet and lifeless, so any time he stumbles onto an animal-- especially one he hasn't seen before-- he's definitely interested. He doesn't seem hostile, but his big, spring green eyes sure are wide and wondering.]
[ oooh. pretty! nudge is on her way out to muck about in the forest when she glances up and notices the merlin. it's not often that she sees birds or any animals other than ducks this near the castle (and she definitely always notces the birds) so she pauses to look. ]
[ hnnnng. she'd love to try out that trick that fang taught her, about keeping still, extending her wings and waiting for the animal to approach, but she's too close to the castle for--
wait. close to the castle, huh?
she begins looking around on the ground. maybe there is a journal nearby??? ]
