001; Arrival. / action & dictation

[ There is a stumble. A crash. It is promptly followed by furious hissing that sounds as if it would far better befit a dragon than a man, but there is good reason for such hissing. Such as running into things in the room as he moves around it, though he has the distinct sensation of things.. shifting. Or he could almost say. A hand presses into ( Read more... )

[GLaDOS does what she does best, and responds in the most unhelpful way possible:]

"The Castle".

Scientists.

Black Mesa.

I guess it's all really the same when it comes down to it.

I would put my money on the scientists, though.

[ A swivel of the silver-tressed head towards the source of the voice; if it were possible for him to be any more agitated, it has become very possible. ]

.. Scientists.. I should have guessed. They have never done anything good for me.

[ And indeed they never have. ]

That makes the two of us, then.

[Except for maybe the whole making her part. Whatever. Didn't count.]

I presume that you have just had the pleasure of finding yourself in this proposed magical castle.

Castle. Magical.

[ Magic is something he understands and his head tips backwards to press to the wall, another growl escaping his throat as his hand lifts. His eyes are open, but he sees nothing. ]

I would not call this a pleasure.

[ Well, that hissing first has Duke concentrating on the ground for the sounds of paws, scale, claws or fur shifting. Of course, the sound of a rather human voice - well, humanoid, Duke can't exactly tell anymore either - and he's stepping down from the last step of the tower stair and carefully along the wall slightly toward the voice. Just enough to be out of the stair and not much further - he needs to listen more before he can locate the speaker. ]

Paradisa. If something is missing, and this your arrival, it is the castle at fault as well.

[ The man isn't sure whereabouts in the room he is himself. All he knows is that he's not going to take his hand from the wall and anyone whom attempts to touch him to aide the now blind General may wind up in more physical pain than is worth the assistance. ]

.. The.. castle..? You speak of it as if it's a living thing.

If it is not living in the same definition as humans, animals and monsterkind are defined as living, it is close. It rearranges its insides, forcibly removes its inhabitants in the middle of the night, takes and gives. [ Duke, listening carefully, takes a couple more steps closer, but not much further than that. He's slowly pinpointing where the other is. ]

If that is not in some way 'living', then I do not know what to refer to it as.

Seph is all grump right now. steelblackwing October 29 2011, 03:12:38 UTC
...

[ That description sounds disturbingly sentient to the former General whom narrows his eyes in thought before shaking his head once. He can sense the other approaching, at least dimly if he concentrates. ]

That does not sound.. as if it is merely a magical construct then.

The castle is indeed alive, as far as we've gathered. It's in a world of its own.

This castle..

I think I would enjoy tearing it down. From top to foundation.

[ Yes, he's angry. Very angry. Sephiroth will not calm down about his loss for some time. ]

That's been done, I'm afraid. It rebuilt itself at the stroke of midnight.

[oho ...... she recognizes that voice! it's been a very very long time since a sephiroth was around, but it's hard for her to forget it.

still, she remembers he was kind of a nutjob, so she probably doesn't want to freak him out anymore than he already is ... so she'll neglect to mention that she knows anything about him just yet]

It's called Paradisa.

[ This one is not so much a nutjob as he used to be, but don't be fooled for a moment here, Ino; Sephiroth is still insane. He's just more.. stable than not these days. ]

Paradisa.. Paradise.

What a delightfully wretched name for a hellhole.

Yeah, the irony is usually the first thing people notice.

Anyways, you can't go home of your own free will. People leave, but the castle picks and chooses when you come and go, not you.

I think I am going to have fun trying to see if I cannot find a way at all.

[ He's seething. Much much seething. Everything that the man is hearing displeases him. ]

Who or what, I will find some way to make it.. pay.

[ He keeps wanting to claw at his face. ]
