rose: be prepared

Merely out of curiosity, how is Halloween usually observed here? It seems right up the castle's proverbial alley, and I'm wondering if I should invest in a padlock and armaments ahead of time.

[Said with a bored, drowsy sort of sarcasm. But with the unwelcome gusto with which Paradisa began autumn, and having heard and read of various horrors in ( Read more... )

Armaments, definitely. A padlock probably won't be all that much help though.

I figured as much. A barricade is far too simple of a construct for the castle to allow. We may as well blockade our doors with tissue paper.

As far as I know no one's died before during Halloween, at least.

That's a bit of a comfort, I suppose. Though I'd be interested to ask if anyone has come close.

There's been fighting. Usually danger escalates... so I'm sure there have been close calls.

Fighting what, if I may ask?

How terribly cliche. I should have expected as much.

It always seems to start out cute and get worse. Going to the town is a no-go too.

Well of course; perhaps the castle believes that the residents will lower their defenses if things don't seem too ghastly at first. But I am beginning to think that self-inflicted house arrest sounds like an appropriate course of action for the 31st?

Admittedly some years haven't been bad... I think the first year I was here was actually just silly, if I recall. Things around the castle came to life a bit according to their natures.

But if things do get dangerous, the best idea would just be to leave the castle and go to the outpost, probably.

I suppose that makes a bit more sense, seeing as how the castle would be the root of the entire problem. The outpost is a great distance away, then?

The outpost... well, there's one in the dead zone, and it might work to escape the 'festivities'. It's far away, but there's a teleporter in the basement.

A useful option to have in a time of need, I'm sure.

It is, though sometimes the castle makes things more difficult.
