[dictated:]

Just curious -- anyone know if there've been any newcomers today and yesterday? "Welcome to a magic castle, you're in another world now" doesn't have quite the same impact when the castle's...closed for business.

How about, "welcome to the outside of a magic castle, you're in another world now?"

Eh. That sounds like we're putting the castle under siege.

[Thinks.]

"Welcome to the outside of magic castle, which we'll be able to get back into shortly, you're in another world now?"

If I was a newcomer, I'd take that as my cue to start panicking.

Do we have any, though?

I don't think I've seen anyone new, but... maybe just "You're in another world now" will work for now...?

I guess. We don't even know if we're going to be permanently stuck outside from now on, right?

It couldn't possibly do that, could it...?

Why not? It isn't as though the castle has any obligation to keep us.

Telling people they're in a new world will be enough for them to deal with. Voice of experience.

[your experience, she wants to say, but that'll send the conversation into a direction she has no interest in going]

And they're going to think it's a common thing here for everyone to be knee-deep in leaves. Fantastic.

You can at least point to the castle and say it's right there. It won't mean much to them either way until they get inside, but it'll be real. I got here when everyone was on the boats. Talking about a castle didn't mean anything to me.

Hmm. [the idea that such a thing has occurred before is new to her] So it's just a matter of time...and the possibility that new people could be popping up still exists...

What if they're inside right now, and we can't get to them?!
