[ Filtered to Yamanaka Ino's Friends! Minus Ino. ]
On road, heading back in, should be there tomorrow. Is Ino's birthday. 21.
Let's try to do something nice, or lots of little nice things. She seems to have picked up birthdays as a celebration over the years.
Help?

[ Well he barely knows Sakura, but it'd sound rude to say 'just Ino'. He has class. He also wonders if Allen will be as psyched... B( ]
I've always got gift ideas rolling around, but I don't know how good any of them actually are. She seemed to like my Christmas presents okay.

They're not a real big deal back home, and I don't really have a record here to judge by, but I'm sure any thought is what makes it great.
Ino likes things a lot of the time. Cute clothes, though that's her definition, no idea how that matches anyone else. Or anyone sane.
[ she loves her, really! ]

Which is probably weird considering the benefits it usually reaps. Or so the shallow, materialistic me would say. ...Which is just me.

I am glad to see you are coming back as well, really for you both.

You're a cook, James? Hmm, maybe make her a dish you particularly enjoy or something? I hear the things we make that we take the most pride in taste the best to those we give them to!

In a way yes, but the last meal I made for someone's birthday she enjoyed, so I thought I would offer the same. [And Helen hadn't gotten sick from it and had subsequently stolen his food later on, so obviously his skill is not as bad as he thinks it is.] I could, if you think it the best decision. I haven't made a seafood dish in quite some time, not because I am no good at it but because I haven't had the time, if she likes fish I could do something for her with it.

Seafood would be different than anything she's probably had lately. Maybe avoid fish? Something with cherry tomatoes could be nice, too.

[Some rustling carries through the journal. She's throwing paints in her bag as she prepares to start on the surprise she's had planned for the two of them. When they get back to the castle they'll both find their doors painted yellow and orange with a big phoenix in the middle.]

Sure, why not? Have you ever done one of those before? On this end I can mostly promise being able to poke Ino into going places, sort of!

I've never thrown a surprise party, no, but how hard can it be? What day's her birthday?

Think you'd mind meeting with Maya and throwing around ideas? Maya's apparently an expert at this -- and I actually believe she's done it before.

Do you have any ideas as to what to do for it?

I started out with "don't let her get trapped in an elevator with cake." Or let her get on the elevator. I've got someplace in town that might be good to stop by and get a gift... and it sounds like James is willing to make dinner, and Nora is up for doing a surprise something. What do you think?

Why so against the elevator? But dinner and some sort of surprise sound like good ideas... Just what she needs after coming back. But perhaps not immediately as she might like to relax and change first.. Something for later in the day.

You have to be careful around birthdays! The elevator likes getting people trapped for ridiculous reasons, you know. I like your idea on the other hand. If I crave a nice, hot soak, she might at least want a shower. Though she's been a little unpredictable.
