[Kat's out on the grounds by the Falcon and the temporary hangar. She's going over schematics, her journal, data pad, and helmet nearby, and scratchings can be heard as she makes notations. She's also got three more finished projects on a workbench; two jetpacks that she'd been working on recently, and a shotgun that she'd whipped up one night when ( Read more... )

Building experience?

Depends what you're building, I guess.

Landing pad, control tower, living space and workshop. [In other words, she's leaving the castle and moving in with her Falcon.]

So, like. Actual buildings, then.

Can't say I do. Doesn't mean I'm not willing to help.

Well, the one architect I did find lost his designing abilities thanks to the castle. [So dry.]

If you could meet me in the hangar, I'd at least like a second opinion on these schematics. I. Also have something for you.

I'm sure you could. We all could. I'm not holding my breath though.

What's the matter, Kat? I saw that started filter.

Neither am I, but at least I'm admitting it'd be nice. [That alone is huge for her.]

It's nothing. Don't worry about it. [Fucking goddamn these stupid journals]

That's asking for further trouble from the castle, Kat.

You don't filter for nothing. And i think we have some things that need discussed anyway.

It's coming either way. [Resigned. Just because she said she'd like some relaxation didn't mean she at all expected to get it.]

It was a problem I solved mid-word. Don't worry about it. [Her tone's a little sharper than she'd intended, and she stops and takes a moment to gather herself, sighing slightly, before continuing.] What do you want to discuss?

Really? [He... kind of forgot all about that. Which is why there's such a high level of enthusiasm once he did answer, before giving a small, light cough.]

Ah - I mean, I'll start heading down there now, ma'am.

[Realizing a bit too lately that he probably sounded like a little kid getting a new toy. Which probably wasn't very far from the truth, sure, but it didn't stop him from trying to cover it up all the same.]

[Still, she can't help but chuckle softly at him. His enthusiasm was refreshing.]

Good. I'll see you shortly then.

[She'll be in her hangar at the workbench, mulling over a a multitude of plans and schematics, the jetpacks a little farther down the table.

[He gives a murmur of a noise in confirmation as he gets up, before proceeding to close the journal and move as quick as he can down to the castle's lobby and out onto the grounds.

Which is why it didn't take long before Kat would find the ODST cheerfully peering into the hanger.] Ma'am?

[She looks up at his voice and waves him in, discarding her schematics to go fetch the jetpack.]

Come in, Lance Corporal. You get any basic training in this, or was it something special to the Bullfrogs?

If your idea of quiet is shooting at targets and not talking much, I'm game. Blasting crap sounds kinda good right now.

I'm always up for blasting 'crap'. I'll met you at the shooting range in ten. [Yeah, she really needs to beat some shit up after that conversation with Wash.]

Heh. Somehow I feel it's going to be one of the hardest missions of my life, trying to find any peace around here.

How've you been?

I don't feel the rocks on the ground anymore. I think I'm finally used to camping again, and that's been refreshing in a way. Ice cold baths in random creeks aside!

Maybe one of the hardest missions, but also one of the ones with the biggest payoffs, if found! Though who knows, peace can drive people a little crazy for lack of things to respond to.

Hey, it's the stabbing ice cold that lets you know you're alive.

You know, that was me a while ago. But, I think I'll take the mindlessness of peace over the physical representations of my mind. There's a reason I want that stuff to stay on the inside.
