Thirtieth Issue - The Sea of Memories

Sep 19, 2011 11:38

[Now that he's back in his human form, Jono finally has time to process all that's happened over the past month or so. Needless to say, he's got a lot to think about. Between acting the hero again, and genuinely enjoying helping out with the rescue mission at Riful's manor, to having his two best castle friends turn into delinquents that he had to ( Read more... )

That does seem to fit you... I wonder if I should get a job...

Couldn' hurt. I's a good way t'pass th' time, an' it helps folks in town, if y'get a job in town somehere. Fer you, I'd suggest a pet store, or somethin' like that. Think there's one not far from th' castle, now that I think on it.

[after the first song dies down]

"You've got to hang on to yourself"? Funny. Seems like you were losing your grip for a little while there. Or that you at least sold part of it away.

I was on a loss, that's what I've got to say for myself, but what was your excuse for being an asshole to your friends?

I don' make any excuses fer my behavior, Mark. I did what needed doin'. When th' time comes that I go on a loss that puts people in danger, I'd expect any o' me friends t'do th' same thing.

Oh, an' I never "sold out", mate. My responsibilities t'th' Peace Patrol, and as a costumed vigilante come before anythin' else. Always have.

Sounds like an excuse to me. "It's my job to let other people jam a stick up my ass, I swear!" You're changing your tune so fast that maybe you should just skip the musical career and go for politics!

Honestly? Until you figure out who the fuck you are? Don't call me "mate". I don't keep friends who bullshit me.

No one jammed a stick up me arse, Mark. I've always put my bit as a vigilante above everythin' else. Y'jus' didn' see it, because you never saw me when I was workin'.

You don' know th' half of it, but if tha's what you want...fine.

[Del appears at some point, but is just kinda lurking quietly in a corner. A quietly contemplative day is upon her.]

[Her appearance doesn't surprise Jono, as he looks up from polishing glasses, but it being a slow day means he can meander over after he finishes, and join her in her quiet corner.]

Hey you. Never thought I'd ever see ya down here, but yer a welcome sight jus' th' same.

[The smile he gives her is as genuine and warm as ever, but there's something subdued about it, as though Jono's mind is a million miles away.]

[She traces vague, random patterns on the table with her fingers]

Sore eyes?

Yeah, a sight fer sore eyes, y'are.

[He sits down across from her, a heavy sigh escaping him as he settles.]

Tell me somethin', luv. Have y'ever felt like y'didn' know who y'are? Like...yer bein' pulled s'many different directions that y'don' know which way's up? I'm feelin' that right now.

[His eyes actually look sad now. He's always a rather dour individual, but now he looks genuinely distressed.]
