Fifth Cycle

[Gibson sounds somewhere between satisfied and amused. After long observation to make sure Abraxas's disappearance wasn't just a clever ruse, he's finally moved back to his castle room, and he's in the process of decorating it to look like a little more like home.]"And the Creator said, 'Hey, interpretation program, buddy, why don't you just make ( Read more... )

I'm going to guess you're an AI. A really weird AI.

AI? [Oh, right, that's what Kite had called himself.] Nah, just a regular old isomorphic algorithm.

I don't know what isomorphic means, but algorithm? Makes me think computers.

You'd be right. I'm a program - I'm just not man-made.

He's not! Pretty good guy, actually. Not like this distant, hands-off "God" other people keep talking about.

Tell me about it, and so much better than the genocidal war I'm fighting back at home, fueled by religion.

So how've you been? That ELC working out for you?

bostrumite August 25 2011, 04:00:03 UTC
...See, the genocide we have to deal with is fueled by one program's hatred. The Creator loved us.

I've been a lot better since Abraxas and Clu took off for places unknown. I can even live in my own room now.

[it's not Binary that Kite responds in but L33T.]

[It takes him a moment, actually, because l33t wasn't exactly around in 1989. Gibson eventually picks up the meaning, though.]

It's a story from the beginning of the Grid. No idea if it's true, except for the part where he ended up running a nightclub.

Is that your language?

[and back to English.]

Strictly speaking, no. That is what I used when my vocal files were destroyed. I can speak three languages, though my defult one is Japanese.

That would be rough, man. Vocal files aren't an easy fix.

We mostly use binary if we have to send a Bit after someone with a message. Everybody knows it, even the Bits.
