As hard as it was to understand, I wouldn't mind learning different languages. I was learning English back home at school.

I couldn't communicate with anyone at work and I thought it would last a week so I took the week off -- only now it's over and I should probably tell them I'm okay to do my shifts.

I expect that what a friend said would hold true: we'd create some hodgepodge language we all spoke, to compensate over time. The city likely would have one, and it'd take a while to integrate, and some of us never would.
