Does anyone here have better than human abilities to track scents, or any particular affinity with blood and who would be able to tell if any'd been spilled in a given area in the recent past?

They haven't found remains, so it's even possible there was no one actually injured, but neither are equipped to track by scent or recognize old or hidden scents in the area. I don't know how much Dead Zone crossover there is, but they should be able to tell you,

In a worst case scenario, yes. At the very least, if someone was definitively injured or attacked out there.
