Lente's Point Expedition - Departure

Filtered to everyone who has expressed interest in the expedition and away from the First Gen's

[It's early morning, and all is relatively quiet until something unexpected breaks the calm over the journals. The merry ringing of a metal bell. A bright, chipper, probably unbearably loud noise to anyone who wished to sleep in. Didn't know you ordered a ( Read more... )

[That is the most muffins Violet has ever seen. She'll get to the giant police box in a second.]

[the Doctor always has smiles for visitors - particularly new faces. he brushes crumbs off his lapel, idly, and doffs his hat]

Good morning! Help yourself, of course.

[Mm. Muffins. Violet reaches for one and smiles.] Thank you, sir.

You're quite welcome. ... I'm the Doctor, by the way. You sound a bit familiar, have we spoken before?

The Doctor! [Violet brightens even more than the prospect of an adventure, if that is at all possible. She hasn't smiled this much since a tremendously terrible day at Briny Beach.] I'm Violet, Violet Baudelaire.

Violet Baudelaire! In the flesh! How simply marvellous! [he lights up just as much, really, if not even more so] Welcome to the expeditionary party! I trust you've met Felix, then?

It is I. [She's so very amused right now.] I spoke to him over the journals last night. Gave him some of what I've done.

How very forthcoming of you. You'll find there's not a single one among us who didn't volunteer for duty, by the by. [winks. that is, of course, his way of telling her they can all be trusted]

I think this is a little different, but it has the same principle. [She does grin at his wink, understanding the message.]

You'll find that's the case with many things, here in Paradisa: it's not exactly home by any stretch of the imagination, but it comes disturbingly close when it wants to.

So, what of it? Care to meet the TARDIS?

I don't think I'd want it to be home. [She frowns before he mentions the TARDIS.] Oh, yes please.

That's a very good thing, you know. [he smiles, then pushes the door open] Then, by all means, be our guest.

[the console room is massive - high, vaulted ceilings in a round room that stretches on and on, almost like a certain hotel lobby. there are oriental rugs strewn around the floor, almost haphazardly. the walls are lined with bookshelves and paintings, and at the center there's a hexagonal console covered with controls both familiar and foreign: buttons, knobs, a typewriter... and the whole thing is suffused with orange and blue light, very comforting and warm]

[Violet steps into the TARDIS, eyes wide. She looks around. It really was bigger on the inside. She heads towards the console after taken a moment to process this.]

Normally, I'd let you explore, but ... since some of the coordinates are already pre-set, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you not to touch any controls.

Perhaps later, I'll let you take her with me for a spin. Or, you can help me on the way back!

[Violet keeps her hands at her sides but studies it thoroughly nonetheless. She's more than excited. New technology! Levers and buttons that do all sorts of things.] How does it work?

Well, admittedly, the process is far less complicated here than it usually is, since time is no longer a valid travel option, and our spatial range is severely limited ... but there's a dematerialization circuit, beneath the console, here ... when the proper coordinates are set, and the velocity regulator is activated, the TARDIS draws power via a series of fluid links from the dynomorphic generators in the control room, farther down, routes it through the time rotor and the thermobuffer, and back out to the quantum accelerator, and - well, off we go.
