Comfort

I have realized that even though this world is not fond of constants, there are some things it cannot keep from us. Life itself is a cycle, is it not? And though we may lose such things as memories, strengths and even items of great value, our existence is always assured. Through that, we are promised great joy and sorrow in equal amounts, but ( Read more... )

[looming over her, like he do.] Perhaps I should build Thassarian's cabin here.

[mawgj, eweakjledw how did you sneak up on her.

She jolts slightly, halting her casting to keep from agitating his...undeadness.]

I do not know how the castle would feel about that.

I can't say I care overmuch for how the castle feels about anything. [he crouches beside her.] Have you been coming here every day?

[Liadrin leans back so that she can peer at him from over her shoulder. It is nice to feel so comfortable with someone that she can be somewhat informal. It is nice to be reminded of happier times...]

It reminds me of the gardens in Silvermoon. Not as nice, perhaps, but still lovely...still familiar.

I am sorry for the other day.

[Guess who's FINALLY NORMAL and totally watching you from a nearby tree. She also vaguely remembers the past two incidents and is mumbling to herself.]

...should probably apologize......tch....

[She doesn't spot Alleyne right away until her long ears catch the sound of her muttering. Her attention fixes on the elf and she offers a polite smile as encouragement.]

You do not need to.

[Caught. Her ears flick up in embarrassment, snorting at herself a bit. She nods and keeps her usual lineface going as she speaks.]

No, really, I've harassed you twice under the castle's influence with barely knowing who you are. That I owe you my sincerest apologies for and hoping it won't happen again. How you can forgive me so easily is beyond me, even with us all knowing such things are beyond our control.

Control is perhaps the greatest illusion in this world or any other. I cannot fault you for what this place does, nor could I fault you for our previous encounters even if they were avoidable. Company is company at the end of the day, is it not?

[ And so, as requested, Deathwing comes wandering out to the gardens once more. Vaguely he wonders what draws him to this place so often; the answer tugs at his mind, yet whenever he tries to grasp it, it floats just out of reach. This, coupled with his baffling conversations as of late, about the Light, about mercy and kindness, has rendered him somewhat of a frustrated mess. Beliefs that were once stalwart have begun to falter. Deathwing is not oblivious to this change within himself, even if every part of him denies it.

He will not hide his true form this time, slugging across the grounds in his hulking armor. He catches her midcast, but does not interrupt, watching from a distance as she bathes herself in an ethereal glow. Beautiful is not the word he would use to describe the display, yet nothing else seems to fit. Not wishing to interrupt, he simply stares for awhile, lost in his thoughts. ]

[Liadrin does not stop her spellwork, even when she hears the sound of armored footfalls. She does not even look at him as she weaves tendrils of magic through the air with her fingertips, admiring instead the little golden sparks, hoping that perhaps he will see what she does.]

Does it bother you?

It bothers me that you continue to waste your time on such trifles, yes.

[ But the admonishment is gentle. Almost playful. For whatever reason, he's wary to approach, eyes averted. ]

For what reason have you called me here?

liadrin May 13 2011, 00:49:00 UTC
I need a reason?

I shall have to think of one, then, if only to keep you here. [Finally she stops, leaning back to rest her weight on her palms, eyes fixed patiently on him. Come on over. Don't be scared, dragon.]

[He's passing by the gardens on his way back to the city when he sees that...and can't help but stare a bit. Wow that's really pretty looking...]

[Allen! Liadrin is quick to notice him, and she lets the magic fade away a bit as she offers a wave hello.]

[Liadrin! He'll return that wave with a small sheepish smile]

Practising magic?

Like most, I am happiest when I can connect with things that are familiar to me...the Light soothes me as nothing else can.

Ah-- which reminds me. Those books I had meant to give you, did you still need them?

[wooh, pretty lights! Quorra peers over a rosebush at Liadrin, clearly fascinated by all the magical shenanigans going on--and drawn to the feeling of peace the Light emanates.]

Ah, it's just me, Lady Liadrin. [stepping lightly out from the bushes!]

Ah-- Quorra. [She relaxes, able to manage a smile instead.] Why were you hiding in there?
