To forgive is not to forget.

It is to pay the debt owed to you by the offender. It is to lick your own wounds. It is to swallow the bitterness yourself, rarely made bearable by sincere acts of apology.

And, sometimes, it is to change.

It costs much to forgive, and yet, when do you pardon and when do you not?

Forgiveness is for the weak. Why forgive, when you can simply destroy the one who offended you?

What would you say to a foe stronger than yourself?

There is no such foe.

Most likely when the cost to you is greater than the cost to forgive is when you chose not to do so.

However...what does it mean to forgive yourself?

vivatsomnum May 10 2011, 22:45:13 UTC
The cost of holding a grudge.

I wonder.

Can it still be a grudge if they're aren't even alive?

How does a grudge cease to be?

Curiosity, perhaps.
