[Dictated, the journal held awkwardly open with her left hand as she makes her way to the TARDIS for more repairs after sparring with Raiden. She had a couple things she needed

[Not wasting words here, just getting the kit ready at the console room.]

Sure hope so, anyway.

[He steadies her arm for some fine toolwork here, sounding a little amused but not lifting his gaze up.]

Well, I've been using a little plant food. Not like there's much else to do. Besides, we can start counting them against each other once we're sure they won't give up after a week or two. Or get eaten by someone's Pokemon.

[She holds it steady for him, watching out of curiosity and trying to assess the damage for herself.]

Oh, so you've been cheating? [Teasing, a slight quicked smile.]

That's why I don't keep pets. They get into everything. [Not that Kat doesn't do a fair amount of that by herself, mind]

Hey. It's not cheating if I didn't know it was a competition.

[It's...well, it's kind of messed up, really, but between Delta projecting some diagrams on his HUD and a pretty good working history of armor components, he thinks he can repair most of the damage.] You might need a couple replacement parts here, Kat.

And I hear you on the pets. I got companionship, thanks. I did pick up one of those Bits that guy had down in the lobby the other day, though. Pretty damn cute.

[She makes a little 'Hmm' noise, looking at it closely.] I'll have to agree with you. Seems like all these other worlds got the best weapons. [Not that ... not watching her shields had anyhting to do with it ]

[She shakes her head at that, but goes back to teasing.] Picking up candy from strangers, are you?

Heh. Tend to forget that here, sometimes. Never forget it back home.

[It's not faaaaiiiir.] Think it's something you can wish up, or do we have to make them from scratch?

Yeah, I'm sure a Bit will kill me in my sleep. They're pretty cute, actually.

[It's not, especially when Kat's comment is coming from their world's equivalent of their strongest weapon.]

[She takes a closer look to ensure she's got the right parts, and in a moment they appear on York's workspace. Some assembly required.] A little bit of both.

I'll have to meet it sometime. [She sounds ... just slightly dubious about it.]

Close enough. Can you get the more complete ones while I put these together, or should I do it all at once?

[And at that he laughs, because he gets a feeling she'll like it. It's a mini piece of a computer, after all.] I'll bring it to you once I can walk around freely. Right now it's on guard duty in my room.

Go ahead and do it all at once. When I have two fully functioning hands I can work up a better replacement for you to install.

[She nods, quiet for a moment, and then softly.] We'll get it, York. [She means Meta. She means your freedom.]

[And he works quietly for a while, not answering at first.]

And how long until this castle takes it all away again?

[There's a heavy sigh at that. She can't discount how frustrating that might be.]

[Almost like taking out a supercarrier just to have twenty take its place.]

Any reprieve is still a reprieve.

Yeah. Yeah, that's true enough.

[He sighs too. But hey, why dwell on it any more than he already does?]

...Has there even been a world change since you got here? Christmas doesn't count.

[True. Dwelling never got anyone anywhere. Not that Kat didn't constantly dwell over lots of stuff she really shouldn't]

[She shakes her head.] Which just makes me that much more curious about it.

If we're lucky, there'll be one soon. Can't keep Tex if she's not an AI.

That aside, though, I've really liked all the ones we had. If we get stuck with tech, awesome. If not, I get to teach Delta how to be human--you know, the important things. Like delivery pizza and Chinese take-out.

[She nods at that; it would make getting her back a lot easier.]

[She has to chuckle at that, though.] If that's what it means to be human, than I'm missing something. Lucky Delta and I have you around.

The thing about this castle, though, is that there's no delivery food. It's just wrong. And wishing for food doesn't count.

[There, he's about done assembling the spare parts.]
