Eighty Second Song

Apr 09, 2011 21:21

[Things are not too great at Cassa Del Lorne at this moment in time. With Faith on the loose, and people from his world all crammed into Caritas for their own protection, tempers were sure to get frayed. It was inevitable. Being an empath demon while the people you considered your family were getting all...antsy with each other was not a fun thing ( Read more... )

If the other day means anything it's pretty sad.

[ she.... is still thinking about that, and taking it to heart a little much ]

Well, you just need to find a happier tune, Pudding Pop.

Never said there was. Poets have their art, I've got mine. [He knows what you do, Spike, but he'll be nice and not bring it up on the journals where everyone can see]

How's it hanging, Mi Amigo?

[Spike's a bit less self-conscious about his poetry now that he's recited some before a crowd that cheered him on, but he still appreciates it. And he's going to go ahead and make this private just in case.]

Had better days. You?

Waiting to see how much more bad-feelingy this place can get before a fight breaks out. Same old, same old.

I don't know that I'm that picky, really. I miss the pick-up bands my friends would throw together back home, though. I don't know...music is always better when it's live. It's more honest.

[the words seem familiar, like she's said or heard them before...but she means them, so she shrugs it off]

How does Heartbreaker go? I know the singer. Just...not the rest.

Ain't that the truth, Jilly-Bean. And that even goes without the whole seeing into people's souls when they sing deal. Music gets you right down to your very being.

[He'll play and sing a few bars of it, just for you, Jilly]

I got to say it and it's hard for me
You got me cryin' like I thought I would never be
Love is believin' but you let me down
How can I love you when you ain't around? ♫

[it's impossible to listen to Lorne and not smile.]

I'm sorry I don't know it, now. From past trends, I'm gonna take a guess and say she sang that after 1978.

[It's a special skill he has]

You got it in one. 1982.

Defecting from Manillow at last, Angelcakes? I thought the day would never come.

[Have a wistful little tune played back at you on a harp.]

I've always found poetry and song to complement each other rather well.

Well hey, that's a pretty little tune you've got there.

Don't they just?

I could say much the same to you.[She could really get used to piano.]

It is somewhat difficult for me to think of one without the other. In my home there is scarce a tale of yore that has not been put to both verse and music.

Well, thank you, Peach Pie.

Ohhh yore. From one of those worlds, huh? I know that feeling.
