[Backdated to earlier in the evening...

Nancy is currently seated in a little cafe whose name she couldn't be bothered to remember. She's sipping on tea, journal set in front of her.]

If anyone cares to join me, I'm in the city doing a little "shopping." Find me, and you win.

[For those in the city, Nancy will be walking all around, poking her ( Read more... )

[Peter! Her tone does not express how deeply she's missed him.]

If I just tell you, that ruins the fun.

[maybe he saw the invitation in the journal, or maybe he's just kinda sorta stalking her. either way, Zelman'll show up next to her in whatever store she's in. even when she's looking at makeup. especially when she's looking at makeup. actually, let's just say she's looking at makeup.]

I've always liked purple, but it just doesn't go with my complexion.

[Jesus Christ, Zelman. Is there ever going to be a time when he doesn't startle the shit out of her? It could be that she was so immersed in finding just the right shade that she didn't hear him coming, but fuck. He could make himself known a little more.

Of course, aside from the slight flinch, she refuses to let him know he's done it again. Or that she sort of likes when he does that.]

You're better off with red. [She glances at him, and then narrows her eyes a bit. After a moment, she turns back to the shelf and pulls out a little case of black eyeshadow.] And this. It's the closest I can find to the brand I use at home.

[he could have... but what would be the fun in that?

he looks over at the case, considering, before the takes it and holds it up to the light. flips it over to look at the back--makes a big show of scrutinizing it.]

Honestly, this sort of thing all seems about the same to me. And it's a pain to put on.

[he'll hum a thoughtful note... and hand it back to her.] That says something about a woman's tenacity, I think.

Fuck yes it does. This shit takes time to put on, but the outcome is worth it. Patience in all things, and you might just get a reward from it.

[She grins, looking rather pleased as she simply slips the makeup into her purse. Surely he didn't expect her to put it back on the shelf or pay for it, did he?]
