... [He taps his chin for a moment in thought, before putting a little distance between them.]

Come at me. I'll make sure I don't get hit; it's easier when you aren't looking for a chance to strike, so don't worry. This way, I can see what you're doing right, and what you need to start working on.

All right. [Give her a second, she has to summon Destiny's Embrace. Once the weapon is in her hand, she runs forward, swinging at him in a standard downward slash. Basically how she swung at the heartless she fought in Never Was.]

[He sidesteps, paying close attention to how she's moving.]

Just keep going.

[He's ready for her.]

[She nods, turning to face him again and swinging sideways this time. She plants her feet so she doesn't throw herself off balance.]

[He takes a jump back, and nods.]

Alright, hold on.

[He walks to her, hands going in his pockets.]

The first thing I notice when you swing is that you're leaving yourself open. You've gotta make sure that you keep your opponent in your sight as much as possible. If they dodge to the side, get your bearings and face them as soon as possible. You should also be making sure you aren't leaving your torso open for any hits. If the fight is serious, you need to keep your head and torso safest.

[She nods, looking down at herself as she thinks.]

So, how do I swing and still manage to keep myself covered?

It's hard to. You have to cover what you can with your free arm, and not give your opponent the chance to strike where you're exposed. A Keyblade isn't the best defensive weapon, so for us, the best defense is good offense. Keep your opponent on their toes, and be ready to block if you have to.

[She holds out her keyblade.] Can you show me?

[YAY FLOWERS He takes the Keyblade with a nod, taking a few steps back and turning at an angle so he won't swing at her.]

Watch my arms and my feet.

[He'll do a nice combo string of strikes for her so that she can see the form. His style is a little different, but the basics aren't, really.]

[Kairi folds her arms and watches very, very closely. She's a pretty visual person, so watching Riku is immensely helpful to her.

Yeah, she can do that. She hopes.]

[After a moment of demonstration, he turns back to her, relaxing from his stance and holding the Keyblade out to her.]

You get it?

I think so. [Kairi takes back her weapon back. She gazes at it for a few seconds.]

I'll just have to give it a shot. [And after taking an appropriate stance, she'll try to mimic what he did. It's her style, but she is actually doing an all right job.]

[Riku watches her closely, taking note of the way she moves, where she keeps her feet, her arms. She's really not bad at this.]

That's good. You're doing great, Kairi.

Really? [A small, but proud smile.]

Thanks!
