Because he was a 4 oz chick running from roughly 3-5 lb kittens in what was rapidly becoming a loosing race.

[Really, boy, you need to keep a better eye on your pets! For now he will continue running, as being eaten is not on the top of his to do list. He flaps his little wings in the hopes that will make him run faster, and it is debatable if that is working at the moment.]

[He contemplates the hand for a moment, or at least the shadow of it that he can understand (since he still lacks sight), utterly horrified that he must accept help like this, but seeing as he is rather... well, un-empowered at the moment, he gets up off his butt and flaps into her hand.

At least his 'savior' has the feel of a young lady. Small miracles.]

[She'll lift her hand(and this cute little chick) up and away from those kittens. And she's smart enough to take a close look at his eyes.]
