10. The Great British Bank Holiday

Oct 27, 2010 13:06

[It's certainly autumn weather today, a cool wind and a haze of drizzle making the day a rather miserable one to be outside.

So, naturally, it's the perfect habitat for the average British Bank Holiday-er to be out and about, enjoying themselves in the depressing atmosphere1.

Hence the reason why Aziraphale is braving the elements in a very attractive anorak and tartan scarf. Trudging over to the paradisa mini golf course, he opens his journal2 and speaks in a cheery manner.]

Good morning, I hope today finds everyone well. It has come to my attention there is a mini-golf course here, and what better way is there to spend a bracing day than enjoying a game with friends?

Would anyone care to join me?

1. It was a strange anomaly that Britain was the only place in the world where the residents were generally happier when given the opportunity to moan. It was why so many holiday parks had been built on inexplicably depressing locations, not to mention caravanning.

2. Said journal was encased in a protective plastic sheathe, of the sort professional ramblers used to protect their maps from the rain. After all, no book should be exposed to drizzle without protection.
