[he was busy drawing, as usual. recently, things from home have been creeping into his art--perhaps as precursors to this very moment. after all, he knows these things. he pauses.]

Ah? [but looks around, eventually turning to give 7 his attention.]

[She hated to be interrupting his drawing like this, but she feared that if she didn't do this now, she never would]

[She'll walk in, looking a little bit ... nervous? out of place? Certainly not her usual confident self.]

I was wondering if ... well, if we could talk about home. [She'll glance at his current works, more as a distraction from looking at him for the moment, but as always she doesn't catch the significance]

[he stares up at her for a moment, then looks back at his drawings. fresh ink drips off his fingers until he idly brushes his hand against his leg. he nods.]

[She hesitates another moment, watching the fresh ink drops seep into the wood and dry, frozen moments caught in time. Wasn't that what art was? Life caught and held through the eyes of someone who could see it much sharper than she could.]

[She'll give her head a little shake to bring her back to the present, closing her eyes and holding still a moment after before continuing,]

[gently,] Yes, home. I ... I just wanted to know, what ... what happened? For you, before you were brought here? [This ... she was never good at this. Give her real, palpable danger and she thrives, but this tension and worry, it was hard to deal with. But, she knew she couldn't always run from it.]
