011 Locks Picked

[After one and a half weeks being human, someone is very happy to be back to their nimble-fingered self. To celebrate, Tas decided to devote himself to re-exploring the castle… and no place is sacred. Kitchen cabinets, lockers, rooms. There’s no telling what might have changed since the last time he went wandering. So, horn-rimmed glasses on his nose (having relocated them in one of his pouches), he’s making his rounds. He wasn’t really intending on intruding… just taking a peek… but with all the interesting people around here it was only a matter of time before something in the rooms caught his attention.]

[Room 607 just happens to be one of those rooms. The trap on the door catches his eye just before he triggers it. Careful hands dismantle it, laying the pieces out neatly in case the owner wants to put it all back together again, but now it begs the question. What’s in here that’s worth booby trapping? And there must be something because, wandering further in, everything has a trap. The closet. The drawers. And Tas, intrigued, systematically makes his way around, disabling any he finds…forgetting that this might be a little upsetting to the trap-setter.

He’s working on a particularly difficult, spring loaded setup in one of the desk drawers when his foot slides just a bit to the side, off of one tile and onto the next. Click-and Tas freezes, waiting for the fallout. Only nothing happens. Frowning, he steps off the tile, and then back on. Step, click, silence. So… maybe… it wasn’t a trap at all. Perhaps this trigger was for something else? Like a hidden door. He was sure he’d seen the gnomes make things like that, and wouldn’t that be amazing to find!

Forgetting the drawer, he moves away to go to the walls, running fingers lightly over the stones in search of any new openings.

Ten feet from the tile. Twenty. Twenty five…]

[And, suddenly, the 6th floor hallways is rocked by an explosion, smoke billowing out from Reno’s door. There’s a crash as something falls… and silence. Do you dare to investigate?]
