..."Thanatophobia", is it? Quite the appropriate name. Though I wonder how many people would be able to relay that they were afraid of Friday the Thirteenth in technical terms if they had to use that word for it? It seems rather unnecessarily long.

Is something about the fear of not having a cell phone amusing?

It's rather unwieldy, isn't it? Just like the fear itself, I suppose.

[a laugh] Reminds me of home, actually.

It is! Perhaps it is some odd form of discouragement from having the fear to begin with. I would not put it past humans to find such a thing pointless and attempt to dissuade someone from it with such a peculiar method.

What about it reminds you of home, exactly? ...do you know of someone with that fear there?

The peculiar methods always tend to stick with us, really. Once you latch onto a novelty, you really can't quite let it go.

Oh, just about everyone, I suppose. You can't turn your head in Shibuya without catching every cellphone in the spectrum in your sight.

It's a constant urge with me, Zelman. I do try to fight it, but I always end up being the good guy in the end.

I wonder why it works so rarely in the other direction.

Ah, well. I suppose it is for the best. It'd be a shame if people couldn't identify their own insecurities.

Perhaps it's because mankind really is quite nice at heart. Although that doesn't leave much room for said insecurity, does it?

The nomenclature was created by a bunch who presumed Latin meant academia. Duh.
