[you think he wouldn't be surprised by now to find Jilly doing something weird like sitting in the middle of the football field, drawing. But, maybe because of their current surroundings, he has to pause. Detouring over on his way back from class, he stops behind her and peeks down over her shoulder]
Seriously. What are you doing?
[she doesn't even look up from where she's sketching in the journal, eyes shifting between the drawing and the strange little object she's rested on the opposite page. It almost looks like a fossil, or like the unfortunate crossing between a shrimp and a peanut. Honestly, it's hard to tell. But it's interesting] ...I found something.
[Billy leans closer, peering at the weird little object. Then, ignoring the fact that she's in the middle of drawing it, he picks it up, turning it in his hands]
What the heck is this?
Hey! I was using that, you know. [though she doesn't sound too upset. Resting the book on her knees, she leans back to look up at it in his hands] No idea. It was just in the grass. I almost stepped on it.
...It's really gross-looking.
[a number of different possibilities come to mind. A leaving of some kind of animal, some piece of food that had been left out for a couple weeks... until he considers exactly where they were. It was a long shot that is was anything interesting, but...he was really damn bored]
I'm commandeering this. I have a sudden urge to go play with the science lab equipment.
Seriously? [a sigh as she pushes herself up to her feet and follows] At least let me finish drawing it before you... I don't know... cut it into pieces or something.
