[a decidedly less-menacing reflection of himself, Legato is just another harmless human in a vast city now. Holed up in an abandoned apartment building, his journal is lying propped partially open nearby, forgotten]

Tell me what to do.

[Eunice and Jay step into the building. Jay makes a face as his eyes scan the entryway]

[quietly, flexing her fingers lightly at her side, ready to reach for her gun if she needs it]

Already lookin', James. Think we might want that flashlight outta the glove-box. Place like this probably isn't gonna have power. Probably fulla squatters, too ...

[her gaze falls on the stairwell, a few sets of footprints in the thick patina of dust and dirt] Or at least one or two.

[Grabs the flashlight from the car, making sure it's not pointed at her when he turns it on (don't want to blind her now).

He starts up the stairs, following the footprints, keeping an eye out for any unfriendlies. He stays silent, doesn't want to alert anyone to their presence if he doesn't have to]

[as they go up, Eunice is grateful for the silence - not just because it keeps them undetected, but because it makes it easier for her to concentrate. there are still the faint sounds of the city, outside, but she's able to tune it out easily enough by the time they reach the first landing. she holds up a hand, signaling for Jay to wait, and kneels down to inspect the footprints in the dust. points to the first, clearest set, then gestures to the others that have been muffled and scattered by the newer person passing, and holds up four fingers, then five. she's not sure how many others have been by, other than this newcomer, but there aren't many. stands, then nods her head in the direction of the stairs. onward?]
