031 - Keep Your Friends Close, and Your Enemies Closer

Are we so used to the castle pulling shit on us that we forgot we're just as much of a danger to each other? Especially when how much of the population is armed, super-powered, or capable of holding their own in a fight. All I'm saying is that you need to stay on guard at all times.

That can be hard when you're living with these people day to day.

It's easy to forget that with our living situation, isn't it? Which makes it all the more reason to be careful.

Yeah, but you can't go around distrusting everyone, can you? There's a guy here from my world that I wouldn't want to be in the same room with back home, and we're friends in the castle.

I guess it depends how well you think you know them. Otherwise, keep them at arm's length. Better to account for any doubts you have now than to pay for it later.

Nothing like a healthy dose of paranoia to kick off the day.

Sarcasm, cute.

I don't think there's anything paranoid about watching your back, if the recent murder by fire is any indication.

I never said paranoia wasn't a good thing. Demons who don't have it end up unpleasant stains on the carpet very quickly.

Consider my back watched.

Not unless someone uses some good carpet cleaner on those stains. [A tease out of like, honest.]

Good idea. I wouldn't want to see you on any casualty count.

That's the chance we have to take.

We can minimize the chance in that by keeping a better eye on the we come across.

It's kind of funny, the chances of any one person living right next to a madman (or madwoman) is fairly high, but the mass rarely seems bothered.

Not until someone in the castle does something to another castle resident, like now. We shouldn't need reminders like this to be careful.

Would you call that paranoia?

seasonofsamurai November 16 2009, 05:37:33 UTC
I'd call it caution.

Is this population as fucking insane as it seems? A sixteen year old kid is accused of burning a man to death.

I wouldn't say we're all insane. But does shit like this go down sometimes? That'd be a "yes."

I'm starting to realize that. And people in my world find vampires strange.

Vampires... including yourself?
