So, most of you know I sew.  It would be nice to style myself a seamstress, but in reality I have nowhere near the chops to self-apply such a title.  I'm just a woman with intermediate sewing skills.

Old world craftsmanship in any application is far superior to most new things. It was an age where products were respected and looked after, rather than treated like disposable items.

Random unrelated but kinda related: I have a pair of enameled steel cups from Best Made Co that were made in a factory that started in 1907 and made on world war II era machinery (that still runs great). I know it's just a perception, but there's pleasure to be found in owning and using things like that.

Oh, I agree! I have a few pieces of true antique and vintage furniture that I cherish. Not only are they more solidly built than any of my modern pieces but they're far more lovely to look at!

I'm happy to be living in this age of technological advances... I mean, 100 years ago a simple infection in a limb would warrant possible amputation! Even so, I'm thankful I can preserve some of those bygone values vis a vis my furniture and appliances. :)

We live in a golden age where we have the ability to make use of cutting edge tech while still taking what was best from the years past. For instance, I'm typing this on a mechanical keyboard (old tech that was more expensive but vastly superior to modern cheap membrane keyboards) but everything else around me is totally modern. It rules.

Also, +10 for the Strangelove reference. I love that movie to death.
