Alas Poor Boobies, I Knew You Well!

Jeff slept in the bedroom last night for the first time in almost two weeks. I'm glad he's feeling better :D Not only did I sleep better, but I got some snusnu too :D:D:D (any of you that remember and religiously watched Futurama should get that) Lydia woke up at the dreaded 4:30 again, this time I nursed her, laid her back down-with protest-and ( Read more... )

snusnu, necklace quest, thats not my puppy, the sickness, music videos, weaning, sleep

I think your suggestion about weaning is a good one. Removing yourself is probably the best idea. I personally didn't breast feed either of my kids but they were both REALLY attached to the pacifier (or the plug, as we lovingly called it). We did that at 2 years old, and we just threw them all away. When they would ask for it, we'd be like, "Sorry, no more plugs! They're all gone! We don't have them!" And it seemed to work pretty well. When they don't SEE it and they don't have a CHOICE, they'll adjust. My older one had a few rough nights falling asleep but my younger one adjusted right away.

I'm sure it's the same type of thing...if she can't SEE teh boobies and doesn't think there's any other alternative, then she won't have much of a choice if she's hungry! :)

Good luck with that. I know that weaning kids off of ANYTHING can be trying, definitely.

I think it would be easier if she were just nursing for hunger, but she nurses for comfort. It will defintely be interesting to see how it goes! My hardest one is going to be before naps, as Jeff wont be here to help. Not looking forward to it at all.

i did not have my hubby to help with the weaning, but in a way i had my MIL. because she goes there all day sunday, she is used to drinking rice milk in a sippy. so i would just say "the milk is in the sippy" when she wanted to nurse.
that sounds like a good plan to use jeff. maybe he can offer her some kind of milk in a sippy? i like the vanilla rice milk because it is naturally sweet and has no sugar, just natural vanilla flavour. does she drink cows milk?
good luck!

I didnt know you had weaned already! She does drink organic milk and she usually gets a sippy of it in the morning. Her only reason for nursing now is comfort. She pops on for about 5 minutes in the morning, thats it, but if she doesnt get it then all holy hell breaks loose.

yeah! we are all done with the nursing. i posted about it a while ago i think. it was definitely easier with my MIL to help out. I was SO done with nursing. i don't miss it at all. I know that is not very AP of me!!
good luck, i hope it is not too rough on you. K weaned really easily, so she was ready I think, just comfort nursing like Lydia.

Sometimes it seems my Friends filter eats posts. I have noticed posts I never saw before when visiting a friends journal, though they should have shown up on my Friends Group. Grrr LJ.

I've felt done with it for awhile, bittersweetly. I will miss nursing her, but at the same time she is far to dependant on it.

Tell me she doesn't actually say "Pwease!" because that's just tooooo cute. If only my little toad would say pwease. She just goes "This! This! MOOO!" And growls. I have obnoxious monkeys.

She says pwease! Its a recent development, as I have been trying to teach her to say please to go along with her thank you. So now its "pwease boobie, pwease fenchfie, pwease tookie". Horribly cute.

That makes me smile so much it hurts. If I ask one of mine to say "Please" I get a "Peeese" from Bhakti, a very stern 'look' from Radhe, and a tantrum from the little toad.
