the arabic poem

*

everyone was being taunted
by the moon, dangling
there like a white
apple, so far
from our parched
lips.

the muazzin chanted solemnly
from the minaret
as stray dogs
roamed the streets
snapping at moths.

those hot
unforgiving nights
your welcome mat
served as my
prayer rug.

thanks

props for posting your early stuff. and it was relatively not so bad! i threw most all of mine out. even the smell of the paper made me feel ill. but yes, it does give you a sense of the forming and shaping etc

peace be with you

its the general greeting for people there

the response is
wa alaykom salam

which is sorta like - and also with you

I dreamt you were playing Final Fantasy's version of "Peach Plum Pear" on a violin built like a black Gibson Les Paul, in the back of a parked car. On just such a hot day as this.

This may or may not mean a thing to you, but dream-participants deserve their credit, of course.

Absolutely -- especially since it's already out there:

Yours was a one-man version, but you were learning :)
