So, I'm auditioning for the PA Renaissance Festival next week (I HOPE!). I'm going to do a vocal piece, and I really want to find one that shows off my voice. Does any one have any suggestions? I'm a Soprano 1 (really high), and of course, I'm looking for something medieval in nature ( Read more... )

you cant get more medievilly sounding than "greensleeves." depending on how fancy and how much practice you wanna do, there's also the classic aria "ave maria" as well. also "scarborough fair" at least SOUNDS midevillish. plus very pretty. maybe get some ideas from the recordings of sarah brightman, a famous recording soprano? she's recorded some english songs in other languages which make them sound interesting yet familiar in that way you cant put your finger on.
them's my ideas anyway

Thanks for reminding me for Ave Maria. I did it for a Christmas mass once (you see, I've never BEEN to church, only performed for it. >.<). I have Sarah Brightman's recording of The Phantom of the Opera, and I like the way she moves. :D I might have to look into that.

Thanks, Will.
