Someone help me articulate why this article makes me so angry (Aside from the fact that everything makes me so angry). All I can specifically point to so far is: For me personally, as I have alluded to many times, being able to roleplay as a woman ( Read more... )

warcraft, feminism, roleplay, rant

She's a woman, and she RPs as a woman because she has no other way to express her gender?

What? And again, what??

I rather like the guy who was surprised that women get solicited for ERP and generally are hassled a lot more in online games. ~BREAKING NEWS~

Like. What planet do you live on, bro?

OTHER THAN THAT. This article was cofusing and deserves a 8| What is she even trying to say?

IDIOTS. IDIOTS EVERYWHERE.

She is trying to say that she is the change she wants to be in the world and that roleplaying can be a very freeing and enlightening activity. I have no idea why she took as long as she did to say it but all the meandering offends me for some reason and makes me want to write some kind of equally pointless passive-aggressive response.

It loses some of the context outside of her personal blog, where it's clear than she is a members of the trans community. She's blogging about the interaction of roleplay and her own transition (as I understand it). Normally The Border House puts an intro at the top, but I think she's written there a few times.

But wait, wasnt this written by a trans woman? I am not sure I only briefly skimmed the article the first time (I had alot on my plate that day, methinks I may follow too many blogs/journals...) but if it was, it makes sense to me. although she could have used more layman terms.

Yes, another commenter pointed that out to me. I didn't know. That makes it make a lot more sense.

That said I am still frowny-facing at the stuff about her pagan nelf priestess. RP is kind of a touchy subject for me I guess.

I do find myself faintly confused by the end of this - more because I am not sure what the point of the entry is than because I am confused about the author? Like, gee I'm glad you like roleplaying and that it serves a function more important for you than pretendy fun times, but was there a purpose here? is basically my thought.

Academic language I couldn't care less about, because I love it in general, because I am a snotty academic and "abnegation" is a great four syllable word and I'm going to make children spell it tomorrow :3
