This is incredibly beautiful. And also incredibly wrong, and sad. The lack of capitalisation definitely produces a feeling of disorientation (along with no small amount of despair). This is the fic I've been waiting to read since the dead!Owen arc began.

I've been looking forward to reading this, and it's fantastic; I didn't really feel disorientated by the lack of capitals, but sort of numb; exactly like Owen. Not sure how to describe, but it worked so well!

maybe, if he'd caused his own death, jack would have left well alone. left him to the dark and the hush, not this fucking stupid compromise where no one gets what they want.

YES. The parallel between Jack and Owen has fascinated me ever since that episode because for Jack, it must be the first time he truly can't understand or empathise. And you summed it up brilliantly.
