Your forays into HP fic are always amazing-- I know you haven't written a lot of them, but the characterisation is just so spot-on and developed from the books and it really gets me. A fic like this reminds me why HP works for adults so well-- because take away all the shiny magic and there's real issues underneath. I mean, this is kind of horrific and depressing, but it's not a hundred miles away from what we know of their lives in the books-- it just has some of the gloss taken off.

I really love your Tonks. She's a character who took a while to grow on me in the books, but here you capture all the good parts of her; the way Remus sees her, and it's kind of gorgeous and heart-breaking.

This line: "Peter... Peter is an accountant", made me kind of snortlaugh 'cos it's so funny, but so true. Um... I hate that life feels that despairing sometimes. Not to be all melencholy and shit. But really: how resigned do you have to be to turn to accountancy?

Oh, and that last segment? Sirius being unexpectedly sober and the completely ( ... )

Oh golly. You've revived my love for J.K. Rowling's fantastic world. For the longest time I've just been too depressed and resented her for killing Sirius that I've never been able to fully appreciate her last two books. You've captured so heartbreakingly the intricate emotional ties that bind many of Rowling's characters and this very realistic spin and slice between Sirius and Remus just really hurts. I couldn't help but wish Harry had been a more physical presence in this piece, but I love it all the same.

You've inspired me to give the HP world another go. Thanks! :D
