Pregnancy and Parenthood Have Taught Me Many Things

Sep 10, 2008 23:28

As of today, I am 24 weeks pregnant with my third (and possibly last) child.  With only 16 weeks left until my projected due date, I've been sitting here tonight, reflecting on everything I have learned since becoming pregnant with my first child.  So, I have decided to compile a list of the things I have learned along the way and share them with ( Read more... )

I find that those friends are genuinely curious about how the labor and delivery are for me, and what I do to manage the pain of it without drugs.

That would be me! I am too terrified of childbirth, yet I have a fascination with hearing experiences. What sort of techniques did you use to distract yourself from the pain?

I've discovered that when you're pregnant, everyone thinks they have a right to a)touch your belly w/o asking permission first

UGH that would irritate me to no end. One of my grooming clients had this problem, along with rude comments. In her last month, someone actually asked her (in reference to her driving) "Can you fit behind the steering wheel?".

Searching for gifts for a pregnant friend, I found a site on Ebay with hilarious maternity shirts. Here is the "Don't Touch my Bump" one:

You are definitely not the first person whom I've met that's afraid of childbirth. It's a scary experience, and every woman's explination of the pain is different. For me though, I've found that being prepared with some things you can do to help cope with the pain is a major help. I used the Hypnobabies Birthing Method. It's kind of like Hypnobirthing, but a bit different. With Hypnobabies I was aware of what was happening with my body every step of the way and be able to cope with the changes accordingly. Why thank you! I figure, since the baby has this thing about moving around between 1-5am EVERY morning, I might as well use that time to write novels and be a bit thoughtful, ya know? hehe

OMG! They do!!! How cool!

Yeah, I think this 1-5am thing with Skippy might be her/his way of letting me know that it's gonna have it's nights/days screwed up, so I better get used to being awake during those hours! lol
