Written for ephemerall 's prompt at ohsam 's fic meme challenge: AU (maybe pre-series). Sam and Dean grow up with a drunk father who likes to take his anger out on his kids. Dean gets out, Sam lies and tells him that Dad backed off. Dean comes home to find out Sam lied and John's abuse has gotten out of control.

Even though this is completely different from how the family works on the show, it still held true to their personalities, bringing out all the usual "ah" emotions. Good writing.
