I love my job - it's work and sometimes it's rough, but I love itpapajoemamboOctober 11 2007, 16:10:15 UTC
I work at a paper nostalgia store in Toronto called Dragon Lady Comics and Paper Nostalgia. We strip down old Victorian weekly news magazines and use the print pages found inside as 11x16" images that we seperate by theme and sell as print images for framing. We also pull vintage advertisements and articles from the magazines that are post 1900, and at any given time we have probably about 3 issues of each issue of LIFE magazine from 1936 to 1972. And we have comics - a LOT of comics.
I do a lot of the eBay posting for the store (and more, lately, as street traffic has been at something of a premium - it's been an odd season) and when I do scan one of those images from the Victorian magazines quite often, on the back, I'll find something like this article on 1894 millinary suggestions and scan that too. I have an incredible backlog of this stuff saved (and more as I just found a cache of CD ROMS that I thought I had lost).
It's all about sharing the wealth.
I'd love to get into library sciences someday, tho.
