(no, no - it's all good - I completely respect other people's particularities...)
Miss Andrews(-Edwards) can be a little overpowering on material like this, but when she takes the high part in the 49th Street Bridge Song while Cass goes all baritone, that, for me, is about as good as it gets...
And BTW, if you use the LiveJournal interface to update, rich text mode will now allow you to embed videos, as demonstrated here. Thought you might be interested.
lol... yes. Ms. Andrews's head motions and facial expressions are so classicaclly her... that combination of snooty brit and broadway actress, but they don't seem very Scarborough Fair to me.
I kno wwhat you mean. It's especially pronounced in "Make Your Own Kind OF Music" in the next medley when Dame Julie's bell-like enunciations take a run at "Nobody can tell ya - there's only one song worth singin'". She sounds like Henry Higgins treating Californian hippies like they're some rare breed of colonial aboriginal.
I can't get over how much everyone who was with her seemed to honestly love Cass. I'm posting the Johnny Cash clip tomorrow and he can't help himself from leaning over and smooching her when they're done. Julie is giving Cass a lot of love at the end of the Elliot Medley as well.
I'm currently looking for Cass' week on Match Game. Nothing like the Inter-Nets to make all the things and the people I love and the places where they immediately overlap immediately available for me, so far.
I think a lot of people are rediscovering Cass. Cass had a recording and performance career that lasted as long as her Mamas & the Papas career after that group had broken up (or succumbed to John's drug dependancy and his divorce from Michelle, depending on how you want the story to be told...).

Thanks for the tip re: the rich text mode, man. I like choosing an image sometimes to use as a teaser, tho.

Yeah - I agree about the voices *and* the nuttiness.
Variety shows in the '70s had a certain veneer of weirdness about them at all times. Very *jazz hands!* at all times.

I have a more-than-slight Cass obsession.
