(I'm working my way through season 1, and haven't hit Ari yet. I started watching in season 2 deliberately, partly because I can't stand Kate, partly because I don't want to know about McGee/Abby. Tell me what you like about Gibbs and Hollis. I didn't exactly dislike her, but I didn't really warm up to their relationship. So clue me in, what made you like them?

I started wATching in early S1- didn't like Kate right off the bat ("the immorals" argh) but I warmed up to her. Usually its her whole self righteousness air that gets me. Why don't you like her?
Honestly, McGee and Abby had less drama back in the day. I don't think they ever really addressed the break-up? It was sort of like, one day they suddenly weren't dating. Its been a while, so I could be wrong haha. I loved McGee as a reoccurring so I wouldn't want to see his heart get broken either.
Hollis/Gibbs... at the time I had a lot of free time to watch other shows (I miss that), and honestly I think I was so tired of characters being obscure and pussyfooting around their affection for someone else. Honestly, @_@ I think I was just happy to see someone just say "hey, I like you" instead of the sultry looks.
Kate is every prissy WASP princess I've ever known or heard of wrapped into one package. It's ironic, actually, because she was Catholic, but there you are. She irritated me on a cellular level. She was condescending and arrogant and just... yeah. So much hatred. I was glad when they got rid of her. Ziva kicks her ass all over the place in terms of likeability. Plus, Kate didn't really have room to grow. She seems just the same in the second season as what I'm seeing in the first, and the only time she showed signs of being a decent character was in SWAK and the actress was already gone by the time that aired anyway. Eh

I see your point. Reminds me of the end of one episode where she is flying with some rich guy and her final line before fade is, "So, Are you Catholic?". What. In general, I'm okay with her, partially because I associate her with S1/2 which are by far my favourite seasons
