What recipe are you using? Perhaps I could examine it. Just because you read it in a book does not mean it will taste perfect, after all.

I was trying to make one that just says "birthday cake" in the drone mom's cook book.

The recipes here are actually quite straightforward, so it shouldn't be hard to follow them. Did you try the batter when you were making it? That's a good way of gauging the end result, if you're worried about making big mistakes. That said... A birthday cake? Is it for someone's birthday soon, Aaron?

There aren't birthdays coming up too soon, but I figured this year I'd try something other than making people some toy for their birthdays.
