Today's doings, and Raising Helen
Good evening, peoples. What have you been up to today?
I went to the library and checked out some books...mostly mysteries since I have plenty of heavier stuff here to read. This afternoon I made some strawberry pies. I'm going to be very sad when the strawberries go out of season; they've been SO good this year!

Hurricane Rita has extended her long arms all the way to Jacksonville. We have had some very heavy downpours today and last night, and this is the result. It's almost as deep as it was back when it flooded really bad a couple months ago!

Another hilarious quote
I just found this in the book I was reading:
"[The Massachusetts Body of Liberties of 1641] also contains a provision that prohibited wife beating, excepting when the husband was acting in self-defense."
That produces quite the amusing mental picture. "Well, you see, Your Honour, she had a rolling pin in her hand, and I thought...." -

There's a cute little green froggie on the outside of my window right now. I was going to take a picture, so y'all could meet him, but my camera just ran out of batteries. Drat.

I heart little brothers.
My little brother Eric is so adorable.
I was checking the mail earlier today and happened to notice that his little soft plastic shark, whom he has named "Bruce" after the shark in Finding Nemo, was lying in the driveway.
