Or worse unsolicited free advice is worth less than what you pay. Sometimes people have to prove how smart they are (or think they are). To me it is not unlike the people who always have to have the last word, or who have to prove they have the smartest, most athletic, or funniest child, or worse people who can only lift themselves up by finding someone else to lower below them. Small people. Don't let them rain on your parade. The UCC devotional this morning was about jealousy. The point was that when the priest who was jealous had them jailed and the angel set them free, they did not go hide, they went back out and did what made the priest jealous in the first place. Sometimes we don't want to engage these people but we need to make sure that we keep on doing what they think they have bested us at. Keep using those Greek flashcards. Sounds like a great learning tool to me and makes good use of your time on the train. You go girl.

Sometimes you can disarm people who love the negative comments with a warm, honest smile and pleasant non-sarcastic comment. Some times people say things that come out the wrong way and how nice that he tried to engage you in conversation.
